Jau‐Wern Chiou received his Ph.D. degree in condensed matter physics from the Institute of Physics, Tamkang University, Taiwan, and completed his Postdoc research at the Advanced Light Source division of E.O. Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, USA. He is an Associate Professor at the Department of Applied Physics, National University of Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Dr. Chiou specializes in the investigation of novel nanomaterials with synchrotron‐based techniques including X‐ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS), X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), X‐ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD), scanning photoelectron microscopy (SPEM), photoelectron emission microscopy (PEEM), scanning transmission X‐ray microscopy (STXM), and resonant inelastic ‐ray scattering (RIXS).
