Dongxing Cao received the Ph.D. degree (2001–2004) from Hebei University of Technology, Tianjin, China, the M.S.(1986–1989) and the B.S. (1982– 1986) degrees from Tianjin University of Science and Technology, Tianjin, China. Cao has worked as a Machinist, a Process Planner, and a Senior Manufacturing Engineer for seven years of industry experience at Tianjin Mechanical Research and Design Institute since 1989. He worked as a Lecturer and an Associate Professor at Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, Hebei University of Technology from 1996 to 2003. He is currently a Full Professor at the Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, Hebei University of Technology. He worked as a Visiting Professor from 2009 to 2010 at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN, USA. His research interests include product conceptual design theory and methods, computer-aided design, kinematics and synthesis of mechanism and mechanical system, computer- integrated manufacturing system. He is the author or coauthor of 2 books, 80 technical papers, and 10 patents in this area. He is the Director of the Intelligence Mechanical Design Lab (IMD), which is currently working on a number of research projects funded by the Nature Science Foundation in China (NSFC), Nature Science Foundation of Hebei Province, Hebei Province Education Department. Cao is Member of Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society (CMES), Reviewer for Knowledge-Based System, Reviewer for Artificial Intelligence for Engineering Design, Analysis and Manufacturing, and Reviewer for Integrated Computer-Aided Engineering (in Chinese).
