Kyong Yop Rhee received the Ph.D. degree in 1991 from Georgia Tech School of Mechanical Engineering and the M.S. degree in 1986 and the B.S. degree in 1984 from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Seoul National University. Since 2005, Rhee has been a Professor at the School of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, Kyung Hee University, Korea. From 2001 to 2005, Rhee served as an Associate Professor at the School of Mechanical and Industrial System Engineering, Kyung Hee University, Korea. Rhee is currently among the editorial board of Composites B Engineering and International Journal of Railway. Rhee’s research interests are in polymer nanocomposites: fabrication and characterization of organic/inorganic nanocomposites; in composite materials: environmental (temperature, moisture, and pressure) effect on the durability of PMC and CMC; surface modification of polymer, metal, and ceramic materials; adhesive bonding of polymer/metal, metal/metal, and polymer/ceramic; development of nanostructured materials; high-pressure sintering and ECAP.
