Ram N. P. Choudhary
R. N. P. Choudhary was born in Bihar, India, in January 1946. He obtained his B.S. degree (with honors) from Bhagalpur University in 1967. He also received his M.S. degree in X-rays from Bihar University, Muzaffarpur, India, in 1969, and finally his Ph.D. degree in structural phase transitions from Edinburgh University (UK) in 1979. Between 1990 and 1996, he worked as an Associate Professor at IIT Kharagpur, where he has been a Professor since 1996, teaching and conducting research in physics. He also worked as an Assistant Lecturer, then as a Lecturer at RIT Jamshedpur during 1971–1980. He supervises B.S., B.Tech., M.S., and M.Tech. students studying physics. He also conducts research in the field of condensed matter physics/liquid crystals or multiferroics. Dr. Choudhary is a Fellow of The Institute of Physics, London, UK; a Member of the American Physical Society, The New York Academic of Science, Indian Physics Association, Indian Science Congress, Institute of Science, Education and Culture, The European Physical Society, International Thermoelectric Society, and the International Society of Liquid Crystal; a Life Member of Materials Society of India, The National Science Academy, AEGREEL Association, The Indian Ceramic Society, Indian Society of Disordered Materials, Indian Society of Liquid Crystal, Society of Physical Sciences, and the International Academy of Physical Sciences; and a Fellow and Council Member of Indian Physical Society. He has more than 414 publications in international journals, more than 400 in proceedings of seminars/conferences, and 3 books and monographs. He received many honors and awards including Pandit Ravishankar University Award (1998) and Vijayshree Award (1996) from Indian International Friendship Society. He is also nominated/selected as the man of the year (1997) by the American Biographic Institute, USA, and is appointed to the Research Board of Advisors (1999–2003) of The American Biographical Institute, USA. He is an Editorial Board Member of Asian Journal of Physics and Aryabarat Research Journal of Physical Sciences. Dr. Choudhary is a Referee of many national and international journals including Indian Journal of Pure and Applied Physics, Indian Journal of Physics, and International Journal of Polymer Science. He organized six QIP short-term courses on “Ferroelectrics for Technical College Teachers,” and the National Seminar on Ferroelectric/Dielectrics. His research interests include multifunctional, advanced ceramic materials, ceramic-polymer composites, liquid crystals, and ferroelectrics.
