Dimitrios Hatzinakos

Dimitrios Hatzinakos received the Diploma degree from the University of Thessaloniki, Greece, in 1983, the M.S. degree from the University of Ottawa, Canada, in 1986, and the Ph.D. degree from Northeastern University, Boston, Mass, USA, in 1990, all in electrical engineering. In September 1990, he joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Toronto, where now he holds the rank of Professor with tenure. Also, he served as Chair of the Communications Group of the department during the period July 1999 to June 2004. Since November 2004, he is the holder of the Bell Canada Chair in Multimedia at the University of Toronto. His research interests are in the areas of multimedia signal processsing and communications. He is the author/coauthor of more than 150 papers in technical journals and conference proceedings, and he has contributed to 8 books in his areas of interest.
