Jorge P. Arenas

Jorge Arenas received a degree in acoustical engineering in 1988 and his M.S. degree in physics in 1996 both from the Austral University, Chile. In 2001, he obtained a Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering from Auburn University, Auburn, Ala, USA. He also gained professional experience at the Institute of Acoustics in Madrid, Spain, and at the University of Southampton in the UK. Currently, he is a faculty member at the Institute of Acoustics and the Chair of the Graduate Program in Engineering at the Austral University. Dr. Arenas is a Member of the Acoustical Society of America (ASA), of the Institute of Noise Control Engineering (INCE), and of the Board of Directors and the Vice President for Communications of the Institute of Acoustics and Vibration (IIAV). In ASA, he has served as a Member of the Technical Committee on Noise in several occasions. He is a member of the editorial boards of four journals, and he has been a Member of the scientific, organizing, and international advisory committee of several international congresses on noise and vibration including ICSV, Internoise, and Iberoamerican Federation of Acoustics (FIA). In addition, he has been actively cooperating as a consultant with industry, and he has published several technical articles in both proceedings and journals.
