Joshua Barzilay, M.D., is a staff endocrinologist with Kaiser Permanente of Georgia and a Clinical Professor of medicine at the Emory University School of Medicine, Druid Hills, Ga, USA (Division of Endocrinology). He is board-certified in internal medicine and endocrinology. Dr. Barzilay's research interests focus on the association of DM and cardiovascular disease. He has been involved in studies related to clinical diabetes, including the ACCORD trial, the ONTARGET trial, the ALLHAT trial, and the TINSAL-T2D trial. He is an active investigator in the cardiovascular health study, an ongoing epidemiology study of cardiovascular disease risk factors in older adults. He has independent grant funding from the NIDDK. Dr. Barzilay is the author and coauthor of over 100 peer-reviewed articles. Dr. Barzilay is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American College of Endocrinology. He is on the Editorial Board of Metabolic Syndrome and Related Disorders and was on the Editorial Board of Diabetes Care (2005–2008). He is an ad hoc reviewer for over 25 journals. He received his endocrine training at the Joslin Clinic in Boston, Mass, USA.
