Jun Ishihara

Jun Ishihara was born in Saitama, Japan, in 1965. He received the Ph.D. degree in 1993 from the Keio University at Yokohama, Japan, under the supervision of Kin-ichi Tadano. In 1993, he joined the Faculty of Chemistry at the Hokkaido University, Sapporo, Japan, as an Assistant Professor under the supervision of Akio Murai. From 1999 to 2000, he carried out postdoctoral work with Koji Nakanishi at the Columbia University, USA. In 2003, he moved to a current position at the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at the Nagasaki University, Japan, as an Associate Professor, collaborating with Professor Susumi Hatakeyama. He joined ENSCMu (Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie Mulhouse) in France as a Chair in 2010. He is the recipient of Presentation Awards for young chemists from the Chemical Society of Japan and Research Planning Award from the Society of Synthetic Organic Chemistry of Japan. His research program is focused on natural products synthesis and new methodology for formation of C-C bond by pericyclic reactions.
