Muthirulandi Jayachandran holds a Ph.D. degree in industrial chemistry. He is the Chief Scientist and Head of Electrochemical Materials Science Division in CSIR-Central Electrochemical Research Institute, Karaikudi, India. His areas of research interests focus on electrochemical materials science, study of nanooxide semiconductor materials, thin films preparation, materials characterization, catalysis materials, and solar energy devices. He received Sampath Award, in 2007, for his contributions in electrochemical science and technology given by Electrochemical Society of India (ECSI), Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India. He has published 188 papers in national and internatonal journals. He has guided 98 projects for M.Tech., M.E., B.Tech., M.Sc., and M.Phil., students. He has served as Board of studies Member in Thiagarajar college of Engineering, Madurai, India, Bharathidasan University, Thiruchupalli, India, Bishop Heber college, Tiruchirappalli, India, Sri Nandhanam college of Engineering and Technology, Tiruppatur, India, and Sethu Institute of Technology, Madurai, India. He has edited proceeding books on principles and practice of powder X-ray diffraction, thin film preparation and characterization techniques for energy conversion, income generation through solar energy utilization and corrosion prevention measures, and materials and characterization. He delivered 52 invited talks on nanomaterials, thin films, solar energy conversion, and characterization techniques. He has 8 patents, 2 process, and 2 copy rights. He organized 7 national conferences, 2 national workshops, and 2 international conferences. He is currently engaged in CSIR projects of national interest on dye-sensitized solar cells, hard coatings, and oxide nanomaterials for biomedical and antibacterial applications.
