Marcelo Menossi
0000-0002-9211-3787Marcelo Menossi has a B.A. degree in biology, University of Campinas, São Paulo, Brazil (1989) and a Ph.D. degree in genetics, University of Barcelona, Barcelona, Spain (1994). In 1999, he got a position as Professor at the University of Campinas. In 2005, he became an assistant professor, and since 2011, he is a full professor. He was the Director of Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer at the Inova Unicamp Innovation Agency (2007–2010). His long-term interest is plant responses to abiotic stress and plant development. He has worked with aluminium tolerance in maize, discovering mechanisms of tolerance and toxicity as well as several genes associated with aluminium tolerance. More recently, he has focused on the biofuel crop sugarcane. Besides the scientific papers, his work has allowed the filing of patents.
