Valeria Misiti obtained her Laurea degree in 1999 and got her Ph.D degree in earth sciences, in 2003, from Sapienza the University of Rome. During her Laurea courses, she improved her skills with international cooperative experience, while during her Ph.D. she received a Marie Curie Ph.D. training Fellowship both at the HT-HP experimental laboratory of the Bayerisches Geoinstitut, Germany. From 1999 to 2000, she lectured mineralogy for environmental science for one year as a Contract Professor at Roma Tre University. Valeria is a Petrologist with a background in metamorphic and igneous petrology. At present, she is involved in viscosity measurements of silicate melts by the falling sphere method, phase equilibria experiments, and decarbonation experiments, all of them by the use of a piston cylinder apparatus.
