Leonie Callaway is an Associate Professor and currently the Head of the Royal Brisbane Clinical School, University of Queensland, with a recent adventure as an Acting Executive Director of Medicine for the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital. She works clinically as an obstetric physician. She completed her Ph.D. degree in obstetric medicine in 2007. Her ongoing research interests include obesity and inflammation in pregnancy, the role of the maternal metabolism on fetal programming and neonatal body composition, lifestyle interventions in pregnancy, and the role of pregnancy in unmasking the risks of future chronic disease. She has in excess of 2.5 million dollars research funding, and is currently supervising 4 Ph.D. scholars. She is a Member of the Council for the Australian Diabetes in Pregnancy Society and is the Deputy Chair of the Queensland Maternal and Perinatal Quality Council.
