Giovanni Luisetto

Giovanni Luisetto was born in Tizzana (PT), May 26th 1947. Degree in Medicine in 1972 with summa cum laude. Specialized in Nuclear Medicine and in Endocrinology. From 1980 to 1985 Researcher at the University of Padua. From 1985 Associate Professor in Internal Medicine at the University of Padua. As from 1984 responsible for the out-patients Unit of Osteoporosis and Metabolic Bone Diseases of the Department of Medical Sciences and Surgery and as from 1989 also responsible for the Service of Metabolic Bone Diseases of the Institute of Endocrinology, University of Padua. Training periods abroad: in 1976, six months in the Laboratory of Radioimmunoassay directed by Prof. P. Franchimont at the University of Lieges (Belgium) to study hormones involved in bone metabolism. In 1977, one month in the Department of Rheumatology and Physical Medicine directed by Prof. A. Fourniè at the University of Toulouse (France). Membership: Member and founder of the Italian Society of Mineral Metabolism (SIMM), he was elected member of the Board of Directors. Member of the Italian Society of Osteoporosis & Metabolic Skeletal Diseases (SIOMMS). Member of the American Society of Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR). Member and first president of Nord Est Association for osteoporosis (ANEOP). Member of the Editorial Board of the Italian Journal of Mineral and Electrolyte Metabolism. Author of about 150 papers in international and national journals and of a monograph entitled: L’osteoporosi della donna e dell’anziano, Piccin ed., 1989. Co-author with A. Nardi of a CD-ROM: Metabolismo Minerale e Osteopatie Metaboliche, Passoni ed (2001). Research interests: Bone and mineral metabolism, in particular bone metabolism in various endocrine diseases.
