D. Yu. Murzin received an M.S. degree in chemical engineering (with honours), Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology, Moscow in 1986. In 1989, he received a Ph.D. degree at Karpov Physico-Chemical Institute, Moscow. In 1999 he received a Doctorate of Chemical Sciences, Karpov Physico-Chemical Institute. From 1986 till 1992, he worked at the Karpov Physico-Chemical Institute. From 1992 till 1994, he had postdoctoral experience (Université Louis Pasteur, Strasbourg, France, Åbo Akademi University, Turku, Finland). From 1995 till 2000, he was with BASF; since 2000, he served as a Professor of chemical technology, Åbo Akademi University, Turku, Finland. In addition, he is the author and coauthor of over 300 journal articles on kinetics and catalysis and a monograph Catalytic Kinetics (Elsevier, 2005). He taught courses in heterogeneous catalysis, chemical technology, bioreaction engineering, and chemical kinetics.
