Alessandro Tessitore works as an Assistant Professor of neurology in the Department of Neurological Sciences of the Second University of Naples (SUN), Italy. Prior to joining the faculty at SUN, Dr. Tessitore worked as a Research Fellow in the Laboratory of Dr. Danny Weinberger at the Clinical Brain Disorders Branch, NIMH, Bethesda, Md, USA, under the supervision of Dr. Anand Mattay. He received his M.D. degree from the Second University of Naples in 1998 and completed his Neurology Residency Program in 2004. In 2008, he completed his Ph.D. in neuroscience at SUN working with Professor Gioacchino Tedeschi. Dr. Tessitore's research is focused on using nonconventional neuroimaging methods (fMRI, VBM, DTI) to identify specific biological pathways underlying motor and nonmotor symptoms of Parkinson’s disease and other parkinsonian disorders.
