Ravinder Abrol received his Ph.D. degree in Chemistry from the California Institute of Technology (Pasadena, CA, USA) in 2003. Following postdocs at IBM TJ Watson Research Center (NY, USA) and Caltech, he became a Research Scientist and Group Leader for Biomolecular Simulations at the Materials and Process Simulation Center at Caltech. In 2012 he joined the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center (Los Angeles, CA, USA) as a Faculty in the Departments of Medicine and BioMedical Sciences. Since 2010, he is an Associate Editor for the Frontiers in Physiology Journal and since 2012 he is also a member of the NIH Study Section on Biological Chemistry, Biophysics, and Drug Discovery. His research is focused on Computational Molecular Biology, where he is trying to understand the structural basis of G protein-coupled receptor function, and how that understanding coupled with physiological observations of cellular signaling can be used for the rational design of efficacious drugs with minimal side-effects.
