Costas A. Charitidis

Costas Charitidis is an Associate Professor of the School of Chemical Engineering in the National Technical University of Athens. Currently, he is the Director of the Science and Engineering Department and he is coordinating several projects funded by the European Commission and the Greek Ministry of Education and General Secretariat for Research and Technology of Greece. His main research interests are centered on the study of structural and nanomechanical properties of bulk-thin film-multifunctional materials, tribology, contact mechanics, adhesion, fracture and fatigue of engineering materials, modeling of mechanical behavior, multiscale modeling in nanostructures and biological systems, nanomaterials processing, thin film technology, ion-beam and plasma assisted surface modification techniques, surface and interface properties, and social and safety implications of nanotechnology. He has gained extensive R&D experience through collaborations with international research centers. He is a Referee in international scientific journals, Evaluator/Scientific Advisor of EC funded R&D projects, Participant in EU and Greek funded R&D projects. He has published 170 peer-reviewed articles in scientific journals, has contributed 1 chapter in a book and has edited 1 book.
