Giovanni Tuccari was born in Messina 9 August 1955. He had a degree in medicine and surgery from the University of Pisa (points 110/110 cum laude). He achieved the specialization in anatomic pathology (points 50/50 cum laude) at the University of Messina 23 July 1983. He became Associate Professor of pathology in 25 May 1987 and successively, in 14 March 2000, Full Professor of pathology at the University of Messina. At the moment, he is teacher of anatomic pathology at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Messina and also in many schools of medical specialties such as oncology, surgery, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, pneumology, and anatomic pathology. He has been Invited Speaker and Chairman in many national and international congresses of pathology and histochemistry; moreover, he has been Reviewer for the following journals: American Journal of Pathology, International Journal of Cancer, Journal of Immunological Methods, Cancer Detection and Prevention, Biochimica et Biophysica Acta, Life Sciences, and Virchows Archiv. He published more than 100 indexed papers. He is Member of the European Committee on AgNOR Quantitation as well as of the Italian Society of Anatomical Pathology and Cytopathology and of the Italian Society of Histochemistry.
