Giovanni Tuccari was born on August 9, 1955, in Messina, Italy. Tuccari holds a degree in medicine and surgery from the University of Pisa (points 110/110 cum laude), Pisa, Italy. He held specialization degree in anatomic pathology (points 50/50 cum laude) on July 23, 1983, at the University of Messina, Messina, Italy, and starting from March 14, 2000, he was Full Professor of pathology at the same university. He was Reviewer for the following journals: American Journal of Pathology, International Journal of Cancer, Journal of Immunological Methods, Cancer Detection and Prevention, Biochimica et Biophysica Acta, Life Sciences, Pathology Research and Practice, Diagnostic Cytopathology, Tumour Biology, Journal of Clinical Pathology, Journal of Experimental Pathology, and Virchows Archiv. He published more than 150 papers in PubMed. He is Member of the Scientific Board of ISRN Pathology, Global Journal of Breast Cancer Research, and International Journal of Case Reports and Images. From January 2014, he was Head of the Pathological Anatomy Unit in the AOU Policlinico G. Martino of Messina, Italy. From July 2013, the Chancellor of the University of Messina assigned him the role of Vice Chancellor. Recently, he published some scientific papers: “Poorly differentiated clusters as a novel histological predictor of nodal metastases in pT1 colorectal cancer,” “Immunoexpression of endoglin and smooth muscle actin in the vessels of brain metastases. Is there a rational for anti-angiogenic therapy?” “Brachyury: a diagnostic marker for the differential diagnosis of chordoma and hemangioblastoma versus neoplastic histological mimickers,” and “Histologic grading based on counting poorly differentiated clusters in preoperative biopsy predicts nodal involvement and pTNM stage in colorectal cancer patients.”
