Jeffrey C. Horowitz is originally from Chicago, Illinois. He obtained a B.S. with a major in biology (magna cum laude) from Syracuse University and his M.D. from Rush Medical College in Chicago. He remained at Rush Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center for residency training in internal medicine at Rush and then moved to the University of Michigan for fellowship training in pulmonary and critical care medicine. On completion of his clinical training in 2004, he was appointed to the faculty at the University of Michigan as a Clinical Lecturer and Research Fellow. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Medicine. His research program is focused on the regulation of mesenchymal cell survival and apoptosis in physiologic and pathologic wound healing, with an emphasis on pulmonary fibrosis as a paradigm of aberrant wound repair.
