Maria Alexandra Teodósio

Maria Alexandra Chicharo is an Associate Professor at the University of Algarve, Portugal, where she is the Director of the Master Programme in Marine Biology and a Member of the Organizing Committees of the Graduation Programme in Marine Biology and the Erasmus Mundus Master in Ecohydrology. She has supervised six Ph.D. students, 10 M.S. students, and over 15 undergraduates. Dr. Chicharo has been developing research in metazooplankton ecology at the Centre for Marine Sciences (CCMAR), and her major research interests include the nutritional condition of fish larvae in coastal ecosystems and the effects of global changes, namely, species invasions and acidification in planktonic communities. She is a Member of the Expertpanel BIO3: Biodiversity and Ecology of the Research Foundation-Flanders and has been involved in 22 European- and national-funded research projects. She has published 47 peer-reviewed research articles and has contributed to six book chapters.
