Antonella Lombardi Costa was born in Belo Horizonte, MG, Brazil, in 1971. Costa graduated from the Department of Physics, the Federal University of Minas Gerais, Belo Horizonte, MG, Brazil, in 1999. She obtained her M.S. degree in nuclear engineering from the Federal University of Minas Gerais, Belo Horizonte, MG, Brazil, in 2000, and the Ph.D. degree in nuclear and industrial safety from the University of Pisa, Pisa, Italy, in 2007. Currently, she works as a Professor and Researcher in the Department of Nuclear Engineering of the Federal University of Minas Gerais, Belo Horizonte, MG, Brazil. She has experience in renewable resources, use of sugarcane bagasse for energy generation, minor actinides transmutation in nuclear systems, neutronic and thermal hydraulic valuation, nuclear fuel, and research reactors. Currently, Costa is also a Member of the National Science and Technology Institute of Innovators Nuclear and Reactors, Brazil.
