Hueng-Sik Choi

Hueng-Sik Choi was born on August 17, 1962. Currently works in the Hormone Research Center, Chonnam National University, Gwangju, Republic of Korea, 500-757 Republic of Korea. He obtained his B.S. degree from the Department of Biology, Kyung Hee University, Republic of Korea, 1981-1985 (B.S.) and his Joint Ph.D. degree in cell and developmental biology from Rutgers University and UMDNJ-Medical School, NJ, USA. He worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA, USA, 1990-1991 and in Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, 19991-1995. Then, he took the position of a Foreign Invited Scientist in Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology, Daejeon, Korea, 1995-1995, an Instructor, Professor, Assistant Professor, and Full Professor in the Hormone Research Center, Chonnam National University, Gwangju, Republic of Korea, 1996-present, a P.I. in the National Research Laboratory: Orphan Nuclear Receptor Laboratory, 2005-present, a Joint Faculty in the Department of Biomedical Sciences, Chonnam National University Medical School, 2009-present, and a Director of the National Creative Research Initiative Center for Nuclear Receptor Signals, 2011-present. His research interests include regulation of gene transcription by orphan nuclear receptors, role orphan nuclear receptors in hepatic metabolism, role of orphan nuclear receptors in metabolic syndrome, and the effect of endocrine disruptor on orphan nuclear receptor action. He has been an Editorial Board Member in the Journal of Biological Chemistry (2008-2013), World Journal of Biological Chemistry (2009-2013), World Journal of Diabetes (2009-2015), and Journal of Animal Cells and Systems (2010-present). He is also Member of Academic Society of the Review Board, National Research Foundation of Korea (2010-2012), American Endocrine Society (2006-2007 and 2008-present), American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (2006-present), and Vice Chairman, Korean Endocrine Society (2009-2010).
