Shigeru Kobayashi

Shigeru Kobayashi obtained his M.D. (March 1983) and Ph.D. (March 1989, with a thesis entitled "Circulatory dynamics of lumbosacral nerve root") degrees from Fujita Health University School of Medicine, Toyoake, Japan. Dr. Kobayashi served as Visiting Research Scientist in the Physiology Laboratory of Oxford University, Oxford, UK, from 2001 to 2003 and currently works as an Associate Professor in the Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation Medicine, Fukui University School of Medicine, Fukui, Japan, since 2003. He has received many awards including Sofamor Danek Best Poster Awards (2001:), ISSLS, title: mechanism of sciatica experienced in lumbar disc herniation; Best Poster of ORS 2006, 73th American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS), title: microcirculation of the lumbar nerve root; and Best Poster of ORS 2007, 74th AAOS, title: fine structure of cartilage canal and vascular buds in the vertebral end plate.
