Svetlana Chapoval is a Part-Time Assistant Professor at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. She received her M.D. degree in medicine and biophysics from the Russian State Medical University in Moscow, Russia. After an industry experience in microbiology, she obtained her Ph.D. degree in epidemiology and immunology/allergy from the Gamaleya Scientific Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology in Moscow, Russia. She received a Postdoctoral Training in immunology at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota and then joined the Faculty of Yale University School of Medicine as an Associate Research Scientist. Dr. Chapoval research interests include a dissection of cellular and molecular mechanisms of asthma pathogenesis and discovery of new molecular targets for the disease immunotherapy. In 2011, she was appointed an Associate Editor for the Journal of Immunology and served as a Member of the NIH scientific Review Group for Asthma and Allergic Disease Cooperative Research Center.
