Paolo Massobrio was born in Genova, Italy in 1979. He received the M.S. degree in Biomedical Engineering and the Ph.D. degree in Bioengineering Materials Engineering and Robotics (curriculum: Bioengineering and Bioelectronics) from the University of Genova, Italy, in 2004 and 2008, respectively. Currently, he joins with the Neuroengineering and Bio-NanoTechnology Group (University of Genova, Italy), where he has a post doctoral fellowship. His research activities are in the field of the neuroengineering and they include both experimental and theoretical aspects. In particular, he is currently working on synaptic plasticity mechanisms in dissociated neuronal networks coupled to Micro-Electrode Arrays, network dynamics exhibited by cortical-thalamic networks. From a modeling point of view, he is working on computational models able to describe the coupling between microtransducers (both metal microelectrodes and FET-based devices) and neurons and the dynamics exhibited by large-scale neuronal networks with different connectivity rules.
