Mesut Simsek

Mesut Simsek was born in Bursa, Turkey, in 1976. He received his B.S. degree in civil engineering from Istanbul Technical University (ITU), Istanbul, Turkey, his M.S. degree in structural engineering from Yildiz Technical University (YTU), and his Ph.D. degree in structural mechanics from YTU in 1998, 2001, and 2008, respectively. He worked as a Project and Site Engineer in the industry from 2000 to 2003, and then he joined the Civil Engineering Department of YTU in June 2003. From 2003 to 2008, he was a Research Assistant at YTU, and from 2009 to 2011, he served as an Assistant Professor at YTU. He has been an Associate Professor at Civil Engineering Department of YTU since 2011. His current research interests are vibration, moving load problems, different beam theories, functionally graded materials, micro- and nanomechanics, nonlocal elasticity theory, and retrofitting of historical structures.
