Maria Ilma Araujo

Maria Ilma Araujo graduated in medicine and biochemistry from the Federal University of Bahia, Salvador, Bahia, in 1988 and 1981, respectively. She performed her Ph.D. degree in cellular and molecular biology at the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (1997). She was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Cornell University, Ithaca, NY, USA, from 1999 to 2001. She is an Associate Researcher at the Department of Immunology, Federal University of Bahia, and at the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq). She has been also a Professor of medicine (immunology) at Bahiana’s School of Medicine and Public Health (since 2001). She is a specialist in allergy and clinical immunology, and her main areas of interest are immunoparasitology and allergy.
