Esperanza Ortega

Esperanza Ortega received her B.S. degree in chemistry and pharmacy from the University of Granada, Granada, Spain, her M.S. degree in clinical biochemistry and clinical analysis from the Spanish Ministry of Health, Spain, and her Ph.D. degree from the University of Granada. Ortega serves as a Professor of biochemistry and molecular biology at the University of Granada (UGR), Granada, Spain, as a teacher of biochemistry and molecular biology at the Faculty of Medicine, a teacher of the M.S. degree in clinical analysis, and as a Secretary of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the Faculty of Medicine. She also coordinates the Ph.D. program in molecular biology at the UGR, which has obtained the Quality Mention and Excellence by the Spanish Ministry of Education and Research. She is a Member of the International Doctoral School in Health Sciences of the UGR, the Institute of Neurosciences, the Spanish Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and the Spanish Society of Clinical Chemistry and Molecular Pathology. Moreover, she is a Consulting Member of the Spanish Agency of Quality Evaluation and Accreditation (ANECA). She is an expert in endocrinology and molecular biology and a Member of the Reviewer’s Panel of the National Evaluation and Foresight Agency (ANEP) and prestigious journals in the field. She is a Leader in the Endocrinology and Metabolism Group and a Principal Investigator of more than ten grants funded by the Spanish Ministry of Health, the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation, and the European programs FEDER. She has supervised 10 doctoral theses. She is the author of 95 scientific publications in international scientific journals. She is also the author of more than 100 presentations held in national and international conferences. In the last 10 years, she has published 38 articles indexed in JCR-SCI such as Prostate, Neuropsychopharmacology, The FASEB Journal, Psychopharmacology, Journal of Molecular Endocrinology, IUBMB Life, FEBS Journal, Plos One, and Biology of Reproduction.
