Sami K. Asfar
User Biography : Dr Sami K. Asfar Sami Asfar works as a Senior Consultant and Chief at the Vascular Surgery Service and Liver Surgery Unit, Mubarak Al-Kabeer University Hospital, Kuwait, since May 1, 1998. He was a Trainee in general surgery, vascular surgery, and kidney transplantation surgery at Aberdeen University Hospitals, Scotland, and in liver surgery and transplantation and small bowel transplantation at The University of Western Ontario, Canada. His M.D. thesis was under the title “The Effect of Pregnancy on Renal Allograft Survival.” Asfar has obtained many degrees including an M.B., M.D., and ChB degrees. He was also appointed as Chairman at the Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, Health Science Center, Kuwait University, Kuwait, and as Acting Chairman at the Department of Anatomy. Asfar’s main subspecialities are hepatopancreatobiliary surgery and vascular surgery and current interests are effect of green tea on the gastrointestinal mucosa and nutrition and dieting in obesity. He is a Member of The Vascular Surgical Society of Great Britain and Ireland, Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland, American College of Surgeons, The British Medical Association, among others.
