Hiroyuki Asanuma

Hiroyuki Asanuma was born in Nagano, Japan, in 1962. He graduated from The University of Tokyo in 1984 where he also received his Ph.D. in 1989. After working at Fuji Photo Film Co. from 1989 to 1995, he received a position as Assistant Professor at The University of Tokyo in 1995, and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2000. He has been a full professor at Department of Molecular Design and Engineering, Graduate School of Engineering, Nagoya University since 2005. From 2008, he has been also a menber of Research Center for Materials Backcasting Technology (MBT) at Nagoya University. His research involves bioorganic chemistry (modification of DNA), host-guest chemistry, photochemistry (spectral sensitization), and functional polymers. He is an Associate Editor of Bulletin of the Chemical Society of Japan, a member of The Chemical Society of Japan, and a member of American Chemical Society.
