Umar Iqbal is lead product integrator at Trusted Positioning Inc. (TPI). His research focuses on the development and improvement of integrated positioning and navigational technologies and other multisensor systems for portable, machine, and vehicular applications. Before joining TPI, he has served as Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of Queen’s University. He also remained Deputy Director at Navigation and Instrumentation (NavINST) Research Lab at Royal Military College (RMC) of Canada and Teaching Fellow at Queen’s University. He holds a Ph.D. degree in electrical and computer engineering (2012) from Queen’s University and an M.S. degree in electrical engineering (2008) from RMC. He also holds M.S. degree in electronics engineering (2004) from GIK Institute and B.S. degree in electrical engineering (1993) from University of Engineering and Technology. He has served as Chair of the Kingston section of IEEE, teacher of In-Service Program (TISP), Secretary of the IEEE Kingston Section, and Member of Senate Committee on Academic Development at Queen’s University.
