Yehia A. R. Khulief is a Professor at the Mechanical Engineering Department, King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals. His educational background is highlighted by a Ph.D. degree from the University of Illinois, Chicago, Ill, USA, in 1985 with research emphasis on dynamics of rotating flexible mechanical systems, an M.S. degree from the University of Iowa, Iowa, USA, in 1983 in mechanical engineering, an M.S. degree in control engineering from Hatfield Polytechnic, (University of Hertfordshire), UK, in 1980, and a B.S. degree from Cairo University in aeronautical engineering, in 1974. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Alabama, USA. In 1997, he joined the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, USA, as a distinguished visiting scientist for a one-year sabbatical leave. In addition to his six years of industrial experience in the turbojet engine industry, Dr. Khulief has been involved in teaching and research in the areas of mechanical systems, dynamic analysis, FEM, and control, in addtion to coordinating and teaching short courses in rotordynamics and stress analysis applications in industry.
