Jan Misiewicz

Jan Misiewicz was born in 1952 in Poland. He received his M.S., Ph.D., and D.S. degrees from the Institute of Physics, Wroclaw University of Technology, in 1976, 1979, and 1989, respectively. He has been the Director of Institute of Physics, Faculty of Fundamental Problems of Science, Wroclaw University of Technology, Poland, since 2008; the Director of the Center for Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology, Wroclaw University of Technology, Poland, since 2002; and the Head of the Laboratory of the Optical Spectroscopy on Nanostructures since 1991 (http://www.osn.if.pwr.wroc.pl). He was the Dean of the Faculty of Fundamental Problems of Science, Wroclaw University of Technology, Poland (2002–2008) and the Director of the Institute of Physics, Faculty of Fundamental Problems of Science, Wroclaw University of Technology, Poland (1996–2002). His current research interests include nanocrystals, quantum dots, sol-gel materials, quantum dashes, nitrides, and diluted nitrides; development of new optical spectroscopy techniques, as modulation spectroscopy of semiconductors and low-dimensional systems; and investigations of new semiconductor materials and nanostructures for optoelectronic and electronic applications.
