Ulrich Bodenhofer

Ulrich Bodenhofer was born in Upper Austria, in 1972. He received his M.S. degree in applied mathematics in 1996 and his Ph.D. degree in engineering sciences, in 1998, both from Johannes Kepler University, Linz, Austria. From 1994 to 1999, Dr. Bodenhofer was a Research Assistant at Fuzzy Logic Laboratorium Linz-Hagenberg (FLLL), where he applied fuzzy logic in optical quality control in several projects with industry. In 2000–2002, he was Head of the knowledge-based technology group at Software Competence Center Hagenberg (SCCH). In 2002, he become Scientific Director of SCCH which he was until mid 2006. Since then, Dr. Bodenhofer is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Bioinformatics at Johannes Kepler University. He is also working as an Associate Lecturer for the University of Central Lancashire, UK. He is a Member of the IEEE, the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society, and the current President and webmaster of the European Society for Fuzzy Logic and Technology (EUSFLAT). His research interests include fuzzy logics, fuzzy relations, machine learning, image processing, and applications of these fields in bioinformatics. Dr. Bodenhofer has published around 60 research papers. He is coorganizing the annual Linz Seminars on Fuzzy Set Theory. He has been member of numerous other program committee and, since 2007, he is one of the area Editors of the prestigious Fuzzy Sets and Systems journal.
