Harald Gjosaeter, Ph.D., is affiliated with the Institute of Marine Research in Bergen, Norway, where he has worked since 1981. His Ph.D. degree obtained in 2000 is from the University of Bergen, and the thesis deals with the biology of capelin. His main interest is the ecology of the Barents Sea. Throughout his professional career, he has worked with stock size estimation, stock assessment, and fisheries management, and he is/has been a Member of various working groups within the International Council for the Exploration of the Seas. For several years, he has served as the Head of various departments and research groups, most recently he led the research group on Barents Sea ecology and fish stocks, and the research group on demersal fish.
