Eva Marguí was born in North-Eastern Spain in 1980. She obtained her B.S. degree in chemistry at the University of Girona, Girona, Spain, in 2001, and graduated there in 2006 with a Ph.D. thesis in analytical chemistry entitled ‘‘Analytical methodologies based on X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (XRF) and inductively coupled plasma spectroscopy for the assessment of metal dispersal around mining environments.’’ This work, that obtained the maximum grade, was rewarded the Outstanding Ph.D. Award in Chemistry of the University of Girona in 2007. Her postdoctoral research has been focused mostly on the development of analytical methodologies based on preconcentration procedures for the determination of toxic metals at trace levels in complex environmental liquid samples by using X-ray spectrometric techniques. A significant part of such research has been performed in collaboration with the most outstanding worldwide research groups in the field of X-ray techniques including the Micro- and Trace Analysis Center (MiTAC, University of Antwerp, Belgium) and the Atominstitut (Technical University of Wien, Austria). She was also a Staff Member of the Medichem S.A. Company in 2007, working on the development of analytical methodologies to determine the chromatographic purity of active pharmaceutical ingredients in the generics pharmaceutical industry. Since 2010, Marguí works as an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry of the University of Girona (Analytical Chemistry Unit).
