Prashanta Kumar Mandal received the Ph.D. degree in mathematics from Visva-Bharati University, Santiniketan, West Bengal, India, in 1997. Since July 2009, he is an Associate Professor at the Department of Mathematics of the same university. He was a Visiting Lecturer and then a Visiting Associate Professor at the Department of Mathematics, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, in 2005 and 2008. In 2009, he became a Visiting Fellow at Sir Isaac Newton Institute for Mathematical Sciences, University of Cambridge, UK. He is a Life Member of the Indian Society for Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (ISTAM) and a Member of the American Mathematical Society. He has a total of 33 international publications. His main areas of research are biofluid dynamics, fluid dynamics/computational fluid dynamics, and eco-epidemiology.
