Wei-Chiang Hong received his Ph.D. degree in management from the Da-yeh University, Changhua, Taiwan, in 2008. Since September 2006, he has been with the Department of Information Management of the Oriental Institute of Technology, Taipei, Taiwan, where he is currently a Professor. His research interests mainly include computational intelligence (neural networks, evolutionary computation, support vector regression, and Chaos Theory) and tourism competitiveness evaluation and management. His articles have been published in Annals of Tourism Research, Applied Mathematics and Computation, Applied Mathematical Modelling, Current Issues in Tourism, Decision Support Systems, Energy Conversion and Management, Energy Policy, Energy, Energies, Electric Power Systems Research, European Journal of Operational Research, Hydrological Processes, IEEE Transactions on Fuzzy Systems, Journal of Systems and Software, International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, International Journal of Electrical Power & Energy Systems, and Water Resources Management, among others. Hong is currently appointed as the Editor in Chief of the International Journal of Applied Evolutionary Computation. In addition, he is also on the Editorial Board of several journals including Neurocomputing, Applied Soft Computing, and Energy Sources Part B: Economics, Planning, and Policy. He also serves as a Technical Committee Member of the IEEE SMC Society and the Program Committee of various international conferences including premium ones such as IEEE CEC, IEEE CIS, IEEE ICNSC, IEEE SMC, IEEE CASE, and IEEE SMCia. He is a Senior Member of the IIE and IEEE and a Member of INFORMS. He is indexed in the list of Who's Who in the World (25th–30th editions) and Who's Who in Science and Engineering (10th and 11th editions).
