Lidia Karabon serves as an Assistant Professor in the Institute of Immunology and Experimental Therapy, Polish Academy of Science, Wroclaw, Poland, since 2006. She received an M.S. degree in chemistry in 1985 and a Ph.D. degree in biology in 2003. She worked as a Codirector of HLA Laboratory in the Lower Silesian Center for Cellular Transplantation and National Polish Bone Marrow Donor Registry, Wroclaw, Poland from 2001 to 2005, where she was involved in donor-recipient matching process. From 2004 to 2005, she served as a Visiting Scholar in the Department of Hematology/Oncology University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, Phil, USA. Her current research interest is the influence of genetic variants of genes encoding molecules involved in the regulation of T-cell activation on susceptibility to autoimmunological and neoplastic diseases.
