Gon Namkoong received his Ph.D. degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2003. His research in the areas of materials growth, characterization, and fabrication of III-nitride materials and devices over several years as a graduate Research Assistant and as a Research Faculty Member culminated in a pioneering achievement of the photovoltaic effect of InGaN solar cells. Since he joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at ODU as an Assistant Professor in 2007, he has continued his study and development of InGaN solar cells. In addition, he extended his research portfolio into the new and exciting research field of organic-inorganic solar cells and established his laboratories with full capability to fabricate and characterize solar cells.
