Kaamran Raahemifar received his B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran, in 1988, his M.S. degree from Waterloo University, Waterloo, ON, Canada, in 1992, and his Ph.D. degree from Windsor University, Windsor, ON, Canada, in 1998. Since 2002, he has been an Associate Professor with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Ryerson University. His main research interests include application of optimization in engineering. He is involved in industrial projects which utilize optimization techniques in smart-grid, net-zero community, and dynamic load management. Image processing is another area of research where optimization techniques have been applied. Dr. Raahemifar is also working in the area of VLSI circuit simulation, design, and testing and hardware implementation of biomedical signals.
