Assia Harbi is a Full-Time Researcher at the Center of Astrophysics, Astronomy and Geophysics (CRAAG), Algeria, Algeria. Graduated from the Geophysics Department of University of Technology and Sciences of Algiers, she received her M.S. and Doctorate degrees in geophysics from the same university. From 1990 to 1996, she worked at the Laboratory of Marine Geophysics of CRAAG where she studied the Eastern Algerian Margin and spent 20 months at the Algerian petroleum company Sonatrach as Visiting Scientist to process and interpret seismic reflection profiles. She is, currently, Senior Scientist at the Seismology Department of CRAAG. Her doctoral dissertation focused on compilation of earthquake catalogue of Algeria and seismic input modeling in urban areas. Harbi's research interests lie mainly in historical seismology, macroseismology, seismicity analysis, and active tectonics. She has been an ICTP Regular Associate from 2004 to 2010. Member of the North-Africa Seismology Group (NASG, NAGET now) since 1999, she currently serves as Coordinator of the North African Group for Earthquake and Tsunami studies (NAGET, http://naget.ictp.it/) and Member of the Scientific Board of GEM (http://www.globalquakemodel.org/).
