Abed M. Zaitoun

Abed M. Zaitoun works as a Consultant Histopathologist with specialist responsibility in GIT pathology and Special Senior Lecturer at the Department of Histopathology, Nottingham University, Nottingham, UK since 13 September 1999 and is the Head of Service in cellular pathology since 2007. He holds an M.D. degree and a Ph.D. degree ( Newcastle upon Tyne) and has passed the FRCPath in histopathology. Zaitoun teaches hepatobiliary and GIT pathology in the course organised for trainees in Nottingham and Leicester and pathology of GIT cancers for students in the M.S. course in clinical oncology. Much of Zaitoun's research experience was gained during his Ph.D. studies in Newcastle where he learned and carried out all the techniques required for cytokinetics. The title of the thesis indicates cell kinetic and immunological aspects of tumour growth. In 1995, he started research in quantitative pathology using an advanced image analysis system. Zaitoun's contribution to publication is 74 papers till now.
