Cristina Minguillón studied pharmacy and chemistry at the University of Barcelona, Spain. She received her Ph.D. degree in pharmacy from the University of Barcelona, Spain, in 1987. After a postdoctoral stay at the Conservatoire National des Arts et Metiers (CNAM) in Paris, working on the preparation of chiral stationary phases for enantioselective chromatography, she returned to the University of Barcelona as an Associate Professor of organic chemistry. She has been an Invited Professor at Brunel University (West-London, UK) and at the Universidad Nacional del Sur (Bahía Blanca, Argentina). Her current research interests involve the preparation and study of chiral selectors and their application to diverse enantioselective techniques for the separation of enantiomers. Her synthetic experience covers a broad range of chiral compounds from low molecular weight compounds such as amino acid and peptide derivatives to polysaccharide derivatives and other polymeric materials. All of them are adapted to be used in conventional liquid chromatography and/or countercurrent chromatography among other separation techniques.
