Tamer El-Maaddawy is an Associate Professor at the UAE University, UAE. He received his Ph.D. degree in structural engineering from the University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada in 2004. Before joining the UAE University, Dr. El-Maaddawy was working as a Structural Engineer at Halcrow-Yolles, Toronto, Canada. He performed analytical modeling, condition assessment, and rehabilitation of structures. Dr. El-Maaddawy's research and teaching contributions are in the general field of reinforced concrete structures. He has published over 30 research papers in leading international journals and conference proceedings on durability, service life prediction, and structural rehabilitation with advanced composites. Dr. El-Maaddawy is a Registered Professional Engineer in Ontario, Canada. He is an active Member of several professional organizations and technical committees including the ACI, TRB-AAF80, IIFC, and UAE-Engineering Society. He is a recipient of several industrial and research grants, research and academic awards from various institutions in Canada and the UAE. Dr. El-Maaddawy was involved in many consultancy work and landmark projects in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
