Fernando Navarro-Garcia

Fernando Navarro-Garcia was born in Chiapas, Mexico, in 1962. He received the Biologist degree and the Ph.D. degree from National University of Mexico. F. Navarro-Garcia is a Professor of Cell Biology Department at the Center for Research and Advance Studies of National Polytechnic Institute (CINVESTAV-IPN) Mexico. He was Chairman of his department from 2003 to 2011 and now is the Provost of CINVESTAV-IPN. F. Navarro-Garcia is Member of the Mexican Academy of Science and the National System of Researchers, and he is Advisor at the Academic Consulting Board for CINVESTAV-IPN. He is also reviewer of scientific proposals for National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT), Mexico and Science and Technology Fund (FONCYT), Argentina. F. Navarro-Garcia is the President of the Mexican Association for Microbiology for the period 2010-2012. F. Navarro-Garcia has been working on (1) action mechanisms of toxins from Escherichia coli producing diarrhea, (2) mucosal immunity responses to intestinal bacteria, (3) pathogenic factors secreted by Gram-negative bacteria, (4) secretion mechanisms of bacterial proteins (autotransporters, and type III secretion systems), (5) cellular microbiology, (6) cytoskeleton, (7) intracellular trafficking of bacterial effectors Vesicular trafficking, (8) mucosal immunity, and (9) cytokines and cells from the immune system.
