Peirong Jiao received his Ph.D. degree in preventive veterinary medicine from the Harbin Veterinary Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Agriculture Sciences (CAAS), China, in 2007. From 2002 to 2007, he has studied the pathogenesis and evolution of H5N1 avian influenza viruses in China at the National Avian Influenza Reference Laboratory, Harbin Veterinary Research Institute of CAAS, China. He is an Associate Professor of animal infectious diseases at the College of Veterinary Medicine, South China Agricultural University, Guangzhou, China. His research interests include the pathogenesis, host range, and host innate immune responses of avian influenza viruses in mammal and poultry, new vaccine, and the evolution of avian influenza viruses isolated from poultry in China. He is a Member of the International Society for Influenza and other Respiratory Virus Diseases.
