Xiongqi Peng works as a Professor in the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai, China. Before joining the faculty, he served as a Professor at the School of Mechanical Engineering at Northwestern Polytechnical University, Xi’an, China (2006–2010). He received his B.S. degree in mechanical engineering from Northwestern Polytechnical University (China, 1992), M.S. degree from the National University of Singapore (Singapore, 1998), and his Ph.D. degree from Northwestern University (Ill, USA, 2003). After completing his Ph.D. degree, Prof. Peng performed postdoctoral research at Northwestern University (2003–2006). His major research interests include computational methods in engineering and science, continuum mechanics, composites, and biomechanics. His current research activities include constitutive modeling and micromechanics of composites, forming of composites, sheet metal forming, biomechanics, and soft tissue. Prof. Peng has authored or coauthored more than 60 peer-reviewed publications and three books. He is a Fellow of the Chinese Society for Composite Materials and a Member of the American Society for Composites.
