Laura Belloni

Laura Belloni was born in Rome, Italy, on June 25, 1975. She works as a Senior Scientist in the Laboratory of Professor Massimo Levrero in the Department of Internal Medicine of Sapienza, University of Rome, Rome, Italy. In 2001, she graduated in molecular biology at University of Rome “La Sapienza” with a score of 110/110 cum laude. After that, Belloni obtained her Ph.D. degree in biotechnology at the University of L'Aquila, L'Aquila, Italy, in 2005, with a thesis entitled “The role of p73 during muscle differentiation.” During her Postdoctoral position, she started to work on HBV virus because her lab had experience in the study of transcriptional regulation and she focused her research on better understanding of the transcriptional machinery that controls the HBV and transcription and replication. During these years she was invited to and presented her results in several International meetings. Belloni has specialized knowledge of on molecular biology of hepatitis B virus and, in particular, the epigenetic control of viral replication.
