Asao Arai

Hokkaido University, Japan

Asao Arai was born in Chichibu, Saitama, Japan (1954). He received a B.S. degree from Chiba University (1976); an M.S. degree from the University of Tokyo (1979); and a D.S. degree from Gakushuin University (1986). He had been an Assistant Professor at Tokyo Institute of Technology (1980–1986), a Lecturer at Hokkaido University (1986–1992), and an Associate Professor at Hokkaido University (1992–1995). He has been Professor at the same university since 1995. He was also a Visiting Scientist at the Institut für Theoretische Physik, ETH (1983-1984); at Max-Plamck Institut für Physik und Astrophysik, München (1984); at Zentrum für Interdisziplinäre Forschung, Universität Bielefeld. He was an Invited Professor at the Institut de Recherche Mahtématique Avancée, Université Louis Pasteur (1994); at Zentrum Mathematik, Technische Universität, München (1998). He has been the Editor-in-Chief of Hokkaido Mathematical Journal since 2003. He is a Member of the Mathematical Society of Japan, International Association of Mathematical Physics, New York Academy of Sciences, Schelling Gesellschaft Japan.
